| Although the given resolution of the Epson Perfection 1650 with 1600 x 3200 dpi should be at the same level than the Photo CD the scan below shows clearly that this is not true. The image shows a small part of the original slide without any corrections while or after scanning. | |

| As I said in my Photo CDTM review scans from slides have sometimes a wrong white point. If you have the original slide in front of you the corrections can be done quite easy with a software tool. The Epson Perfection 1650 seems to work a bit better with the big advantage that you can control it before the final scan. | |

| The worst part with slides scanning on a Photo CD is the contrast. You can't control anything and you can't correct it later with a software tool. The scan with the Epson Perfection 1650 has less tonal range but you have the control over the white and black points. | |

| The same is true for the blooming. On the Photo CD you haven't any control over it. It can be correct with a software tool but with the Epson Perfection 1650 you can control it before the final scan. | |
