In the course of line no. 4, MVV-V and VBL serve the OEG railroad
line between Mannheim Kaefertal and Heddesheim. The vehicles used on this
line must therefore correspond to the guidelines of the german regulations
for construction and operation of railways ("Eisenbahn Bau- und Betriebsordnung",
[EBO])".
| Different Buses, built by Daimler / Mercedes / Benz / Evobus. Some with natural gas drive. |
In the course of bus-line B, next to the "Neckarplatt" stop, there exists a short piece of track-bound busway in the subgrade of the tramway-track (line 7). For use on this line, most MVV buses are equipped with guide rollers.
MVV vehicles paint schemes:
The MVV-V trams and buses originally were painted in beige with black
borders. On buses this lacquer isn't in use anymore. The older six-axled
tramcars, however, still carry that design. They are also the only vehicles,
which still carry some all-over advertisments. Start of the eighties, a new,
green livery with white border was introduced, first on buses. This is still
in use on the buses of the types O405 and O405N. As only one, bus no. 171
carries a blue "Wal-Mart" all-over-advertisment. Also the streetcars 501
to 523 received the green lacquer finish, when they were reconstructed from
six-axled to eight-axled cars by inserting a new-built, low-floor middle
section. With appearance of the new GT6N low-floor light-rail-vehicles in
the year 1994 the colours changed again; to these cars and also the newer
buses applies: basic colour white, borders in three different blue and turquoise
colours.
