GPS-Verwendung von MICHELIN-Karten

MICHELIN vertreibt für Frankreich und die Benelux-Länder Landkarten im Maßstab 1:200.000, die sich durch hohe Detailtreue und Genauigkeit auszeichnen. Auf den Karten befindet sich ein Gradnetz im 10´-Raster. Sie lassen sich daher gut für die Arbeit mit einem GPS und / oder PC-Software einsetzen.

Auf Nachfrage bei MICHELIN wurden mir für die gelbe Serie  folgende Informationen bezüglich Projektion und Ellipsoid mitgeteilt

Auf den Seiten des IGN finden sich für neuere Landkarten (ab 2001) folgende Hinweise:

"This system is now being replaced with the RGF93 geodetic Reference System, which is a precise realisation of the WGS84 system (the latter being used worlwide for GPS applications) over France. The associated ellipsoid is IAG GRS 1980.
The official projection used in France is called "Lambert conformal conic projection". Coordinates are written X (or E for Easting) and Y (or N for Northing).

So as to minimize linear deformations, France was divided into four different
Lambert zones:
Lambert I for latitudes above 53.5 grades
Lambert II for latitudes between 50.5 and 53.5 grades
Lambert III for latitudes under 50.5 grades, excluding Corsica island
Lambert IV for Corsica island
A new projection was introduced along with the RGF93 geodetic reference system. This projection is called Lambert 93 (only one projection for the whole country, Corsica included), the associated ellipsoid being IAG GRS 1980. It is now the official map projection for France."

Africa 1/4 000 000 (maps 953, 954, 955, 956, 957, 958, 959)

Sorry, We do not supply this information for the Michelin maps of Africa as we do not know precisely the map datum of the base maps that were used when establishing the maps some 40
years ago.

We also wish to point out that the precision of a 1/4 000 000 scale map
(1cm = 40cm) is rather inappropriate for use with GPS navigator.
